The Collector’s Room is proud to show a selection of drawings by renowned artist David Koloane. A publication about the works on exhibition will be made available online, and will also feature an interview with the artist. Publication dates will be announced in due course.

David Koloane’s contribution to the visual arts traverses criticism, curation, education and a productive career as a practitioner. He is one of the founding members of the Bag Factory Artist’s Studios in downtown Johannesburg, which has been in existence since 1991. Read more about the Bag Factory here. Among the many achievements in his career, he curated the South African component of an international retrospective of African art, titled: Seven Stories About Modern Art In Africa. It was shown at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London in 1995 and later at the Guggenheim in New York in 1996. More recently, his work was exhibited at the South African pavillion at the prestigious Venice Biennale. The importance of his work in the history of South African art will be highlighted at a massive survey of his work from July – Sep 2015 at the Wits School of Arts Museum.
